We recently posted about hiring wedding photographers and making sure you get high quality photos. What we haven’t discussed is the actual experience that you will have with your photographer. Getting quality photos is only half of what a wedding photographer should offer. Believe it or not, a wedding photographer can change the feel of your wedding.
The way a photographer dresses can make a big difference on your big day. If your photographer shows up in jeans and a t-shirt they will stick out like a sore thumb! Make sure they are willing to dress for the occasion.
Interaction and Manners
Does your photographer have people skills? Is he or she polite? Do you like talking with them? A fun and outgoing photographer that can make you and your guests smile will make your wedding more memorable.
Chances are that your wedding won’t go exactly as planned. Whether you are running late or decide you want more photos taken, it’s nice to have a flexible photographer.
How Do You Find a Photographer with these Characteristics?
Meet Your Photographer
Make sure you meet your photographer in person before you hire them. Large photography companies have dozens of photographers. When you hire from these companies, they can send a photographer at random.
Here are a few questions that you should ask:
Who will be photographing my wedding?
Can I meet them before I make a decision?
Once you meet your photographer ask these questions:
How will they dress on my wedding day?
Can I see your personal portfolio?
How long have you been photographing weddings?
How long will you be with us on our wedding day? Are we your only wedding on that day?
Each of these questions will help you find a great wedding photographer. If you find a photographer with these attributes that has an attractive portfolio; hire them as long as you can afford them.
